Film screening

Watch films and learn more!

We show films in the Johansstova building. Make your way up the steps into the film room to learn more about Agatunet and Hardanger. The films are included in the ticket price.
We show two different films on the big screen every day, and you can see a changing selection of films on iPads with headphones on craft and restoration projects at Agatunet produced by Agatunet itself, and films produced by Landslovprosjektet that show the connections between Sigurd Brynjulvsson and Agatunet and the Golden Age of Norway under the rule of Magnus the Lawmender.

  • THE DRAMA OF THE MOUNTAINS
The film The Drama of the Mountains tells the fascinating story of how the Folgefonna peninsula and the landscape were formed.
Agatunet is one of the gateways to the Folgefonna National Park. The 20-minute film The Drama of the Mountains was made by Randi Storaas on assignment for the Folgefonna National Park Centre, and it is shown in both English and Norwegian in Johansstova.

  •  LIFE OF THE FJORD
The film Life of the fjord tells the story of the landscape under the surface of the water, and about how the sun, currents and mountain lakes affect life in the fjords. You will meet species that camouflage themselves, species that cooperate with each other, and species that communicate by means of light and sound down at the bottom of the dark fjord. Join us on a journey to the bottom of the Hardangerfjord, down to a world we have not known much about, to a world full of life. Strange, beautiful and colourful creatures we have never seen before live right under where we sit and fish.
You will meet corals and life on coral reefs, and learn why the fjord turns green. The film is based on photos and footage down to a depth of 450 metres taken by the Institute of Marine Research in connection with the Epigraph Hardangerfjorden project.

As the gateway to the Folgefonna National Park Centre, Agatunet showcases this interesting film, which is shown every day during Agatunet’s opening hours.
