Lars Osa
Painter and fiddler
The Norwegian painter and fiddler Lars Osa (1860-1958 ) was an artist strongly committed to portraying Norwegian folk culture. In 1926-27 he was given the task to produce paintings for the new village hall in Aga.
This building was constructed thanks to a generous gift in the will
of Johannes Larsson Aga, a wealthy captain born in Aga. While in Aga, Osa also was engaged in private comissions, especially painting portraits of locals. This exhibition is composed of
works Osa made while in Aga some belonging to the village hall, and others privately owned, and never before exhibited.
